1 French Diamond Pique
An all-cotton cloth woven from fine yarns for the face and a thick padding weft woven two picks together. One quality is made 80 face ends and 40 back ends per inch of 50's warp, 96 face picks of 44's and 20 picks of 60's wadding per inch. The back warp is woven tight and the manner in which it intersects with the face cloth forms diamond shapes, the prominence of which is enhanced by the wadding picks. The fabric is dented 2 face, 1 back, per dent.Dictionary of the English textile terms > French Diamond Pique
